O beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife

America lost a patriot today. Andrew Breitbart passed away early this morning. He was a tireless champion of freedom, a true journalist, and an American warrior. He loved this great nation and because of that many of us loved him. He was a hero and an inspiration. He refused to back down and he brought the truth to light. I never had the chance to meet Breitbart, so it feels a bit strange to cry at his passing, but there is certainly a void left behind. And while he is certainly irreplaceable, I have no doubt that his legacy will live on through thousands of Americans whom he has inspired to be fearless in the pursuit of truth and freedom.

Andrew Breitbart was more than that, though. He was also a husband and a father of 4 children. I am especially sad for his family today, for as great as the loss is for America, the loss is of course so much more for them. I pray that they are surrounded with love and the kind of peace that only Our Father can grant them. May the outpouring of respect, admiration, and love for Breitbart be of some comfort to them.

There was another outpouring today, though, and that was one of absolute vitriol from the people who hated Breitbart for the good and truth that he loved and refused to back down from. It's simply a testament to Breitbart's success, though, as the fact is that those who bring the truth to light will always be condemned by those content to live in darkness. A soul that willingly chooses to bask in lies and hate will always need to attack those dissatisfied with anything less than righteousness.

Breitbart was by no means a perfect man, but he was relentless in fighting for what he believed in. America could certainly use a lot more people who are unapologetic about their love for America. We must and will continue on in his stead. I am thankful for Andrew Breitbart. May he rest in peace.

My sister wrote a great piece on Breitbart here.
